For the big O-N-E birthday for our little sweetheart we decided to go with a good ole fashioned hoedown! I made a lot of the decorations, invitations, and goodie bag stuff with the help of my husband, my bestie - Lisa, and my soon to be sister in law - Tess! Tess helped me make the invitations and that really saved a lot of money because I was able to just print them out at home.
For silverware or as we called it, pitchforks and shovels, I bought plastic utensils, pink napkins, some pink and white checkered fabric and twine. It was really simple to make! I cut the fabric into squares a little bit bigger then the napkin, laid the napkin on top of the fabric then the silverware, rolled it all up and then tied it with the twine. It turned out super cute!
Tess, Lisa, and I made 3 different banners to use for decoration. I bought a yard of burlap at our local fabric store along with arcylic white paint, white ribbon and sponge brushes, we printed out big block letters and cut them out to use as our templates. We put Brooklynn down for the night, cracked open some beers and got to work. Between the 3 of us it took about 3 hours to complete and they turned out SUPER cute!
Now for some of the big decorations I got my wonderful husband to help me with! He was able to bring me home some plywood and we borrowed my some of my dads tools to make a big WANTED photo booth sign, a big 1, and a few signs to post up around my parents yard. My husband and I really had a lot of fun making these and then Tess helped me paint the ones that needed to be painted.
I was also able to get him to torch the edges to get them a little more old western look. I was so pleased at how everything turned out! For photo booth props I got some construction paper and cut out mustache's, lips, and bubble signs. I glued them to some sticks and viola!
Now we really wanted everyone to Cowboy up at this party! So my mom and I stopped by Party Party on La Palma and Imperial and bought bandanas and decorations(balloons, tablecloths, plates, and cups). I also ordered cowboy hats, sheriff badges, and bandanas from Oriental Trading Co.
This really helped everyone get in the cowboy theme! Now for party favors I saved a bunch of baby food jars and cleaned all the gunk off with goo be gone and filled them with animal cracks and then used the left over fabric and twine to make them look western. We also bought some bags and filled them with goodies, toys, and press on tattoos for the kiddos.
Now for the Desserts I ordered a cake, cookies, and cupcakes from Elemakescakes .
She is amazing and very reasonably price for the work that she does!
I am so happy with how everything turned out for Brooklynn's Howdown! I know I went a little overboard but how can you not with a theme this cute. Here are some more pictures of the awesome day we had!
A good time was had by all! A big thank you to everyone who came and celebrated our baby girl with us! I also want to give a big shout out to Kimbery Gifford! She captured this magical day for us and is absolutely amazing! Please check out her site Sweet Coraline
