Sunday Funday

Eaton Canyon Falls

Today we completed hike #2 from the article "5 Great Waterfall Hikes Outside of Los Angeles."  Brooklynn headed over to Grammys house to take her nap and Loren, Memphis and I headed up to the 210 and Altadena for our hike.  The first part of this hike is very dull and flat.

Once you get to the half way point of this hike the scenery starts to change drastically.  It starts to get very rocky, which we didn't mind at all.

Once you head under the bridge you come to your first creek.  There happened to be quite a few dogs at this creek so we let Memphis loose to play.  He pretty much wanted nothing to do with them, all he cared about was the small waterfall that he could played in.

We continued up the hike, following the stream.  We had to cross back and forth over the stream a few times jumping from rock to rock so our feet would stay dry.  Some people have also laid down plywood to help you cross.

Finally about a 1/2 mile later we reach the waterfall.  Had it been warmed out we probably would've changed into our bathing suits and gone for a dip.  But it was WAY to chilly for that.

As soon as we started to leave the waterfall and make our trek back it started to drizzle.  About a 1/4 of the mile in it started to pour!  Since it was just the two of us and Memphis we didn't mind at all.  However, if we had our daughter with us it would have sucked.  That's why it is super important to check the weather before you head out to any hike.  Whether its going to be cold & rainy or hot out.  You want to check to be sure you have the right equipment with you.

On our hike back we decided to take a little detour and hike up to the bridge we went under.  Mainly because I wanted to get a snapshot of the bridge.  It was pretty cool.

It was a very successful hike!  I don't think we will be doing it again but we definitely enjoyed the scenery once we got past the flat dirt horse trails.

To end the day here is my photo challenge, day 22 - bff-4-ever
